Video Therapy

Video Therapy is the perfect balance between accessibility and enhanced effectiveness.  Not only do both the client and the therapist have access to visual cues which can speed up development of the therapeutic relationship, clients also have maximum flexibility in choosing not only when but where their session takes place.

How do I access Video Therapy?

I use a service call Zoom™ for Video Therapy - it's essentially the same sort of service as Skype™ or FaceTime™.  There are a number of reasons for this which you can read about here.

To use Zoom™ you need to download one of the following:
  • An app for your phone or tablet - Apple and Android are both supported
  • A desktop program - Windows and Mac OS are both supported

You can find the app, extension or program you need by following the relevant link at the bottom of this page.

"As a working Mum my time with my family is precious and I don't want to waste any of it.  Because there is no travel time, video therapy allows me to access the support I need straight after work, without any disruption to the rest of my day."

Advantages of Video Therapy

  • Saves time: it can be difficult balancing family life and work at the best of times.  Adding in another obligation - even a helpful one like therapy - can be a little daunting.  Video therapy is a fantastic way of getting the support you need, at the time you need it, with no travel time to disrupt the rest of your day or evening.

  • Flexible scheduling: many people have commitments that make accessing therapy during 9 to 5 office hours impossible.  Further, if you work in healthcare, the emergency services, retail or the service industry then accessing therapy in the evenings can be difficult too.  Video therapy means that you could access sessions at other times of the day... or even in the middle of the night!

  • Total comfort: if you have a disability or physical requirements, there is no guarantee that a face to face therapy environment would be able to meet your needs.  Video therapy means you can make yourself comfortable in your own environment so that you can focus on the therapeutic work.

  • Enhanced effectiveness: therapy works through the development of a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client.  The more information they can exchange, the faster this relationship will develop, reaching an enhanced level of effectiveness faster.  Video therapy gives participants the subtle visual cues, such as body language, facial and micro-expressions, and even the simple shaking of a head when it is difficult to speak.
